COVID-19: The Beginning of New Tech in Live Casino?
How live casino providers tackle lockdown & distancing
There’s no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected us all in one way or another. And it has also majorly impacted the gambling industry globally.
Of the gambling sectors, the land-based casinos have been hit the hardest, temporarily closing down Vegas and Macau. But, the pandemic has also affected the online casino industry.
Due to lockdown restrictions or demands on social-distancing, several live casino studios have paused their operations.
Several online live casino tables are also usually streamed from land-based venues. Something that becomes impossible with closed casinos.
But, for an industry that often leads the way in regards to technological innovations, all is not doom and gloom.
New game provider co-operations on the Asian market
As an almost instant result of the ongoing lockdowns, Asian operators have sped-up their integration of new suppliers.
Karolina Pelc, the owner of Basic Strategy, spoke on the Live Casino in Lockdown panel during the SBC Digital Summit in April. She commented that she’d not seen the process happening at such a high pace before.
Some have been entering into new partnerships. But also in the portfolio of the partners that we work closely with, there’s a range of products that are not dependent on a human hosting that product.
Live casino-dealers: Redefining remote work
Something else that’s been brought to light is an entirely new way to interact with online casino players. With studios and casino venues closed, RNG-tables and live streams have been merged.
How does this work?
Casino players play an RNG table game, which is commented on by a live dealer, who is working directly from the safety of their own home.
Another version of non-live live-games is hybrid tables. These real money auto roulette tables are physical auto roulette-wheels, presented by a pre-recorded live video of a dealer.
For Indians looking to work within the iGaming sector, or just wanting to work remotely, this could open a lot of new opportunities soon!
That said, the industry is still in its early stages of adjustment to this ‘new normal.’ There are yet months to go until we are going to see a significant lift in restrictions, which means that we have exciting times ahead of us for more tech-innovations.
For now, we can look forward to new, exciting providers and tables coming our way live casino lobbies of Indian online casinos like 10CRIC and Showlion.
