The world’s casinos close amidst Corona lockdown

As the world battles against the Corona COVID-19 outbreak, most markets have been affected in one way or another.

Even the casino industry is feeling the effects, as brick-and-mortar casinos decide to, or are ordered, to close down their services.

In India for example, the Deltin Denzong Sikkim casino in Gangtok and Casino Mahjong in Sikkim have both temporarily closed their doors to visitors.

And it’s not only here in India that land-based real money casinos have had to close their doors.

Las Vegas casinos come to a standstill

It might be hard to believe, but the Las Vegas strip, known as one of the world’s largest casino meccas, will soon be quiet.

As ordered by the state of Nevada, all brick-and-mortar casinos are to remain closed until the 30th of April 2020, the earliest. The closure will come into effect at midnight on the 17th of April.

The temporary shutdown of gaming machines, table games, and other real money devices will be enforced by the Nevada Gaming Control board until the Governor gives thumbs up to start reopening venues again.

As with many other locations, essential businesses such as pharmacies, banks, gas stations, hardware stores, and grocery stores will remain open.

Macau reopened their casinos, despite active COVID-cases

If we take a look closer to home, the Asian casino mecca Macau did earlier this year close down some of its casinos to prevent further outbreak of COVID-19.

Interestingly enough, since Macau has only seen a very limited amount of cases, they are keeping their casinos open. The main reason? Making sure that the people employed stay employed.

The decision [to suspend operations] is up to the government. As of now, we don’t have any plan to change the existing regulations… [Keeping casinos operational] is because the gaming industry is not only providing (gambling) services, but also guarantees the employment of over 58,000 employees. Said Lei Wai Nong, Macau’s Secretary for Economy and Finance.

Here’s how you keep your winning chances high

So, what are we to do while the real money land-based casinos are on lockdown? The answer is easy; play online casino, of course!

Some of the best real money online casinos in India are still offering their services to us players thanks to advanced technology. Many of their employees are working from home, making sure that we still have casino entertainment to take part in.

One of those casinos is LeoVegas where you are able to enjoy casino and live casino games from a large number of well-renowned game providers.

Want to try something new? The unique LeoVegas Jackpot is now live on their Chambre Séparée live casino tables. On the slot side, you are currently able to play Pirates 2: Mutiny and Druid’s Dream slots exclusively at the king of casino.
